Pre-Debut: 

  • Seulgi got cast in 2007
  • Irene got cast in 2009
  • Yeri got cast in 2011
  • Wendy and Joy got cast in 2012
  • In 2013 & 2014, Irene, Seulgi & Wendy became part of SM Rookies.

Debut- Happiness Era (August 2014- February 2015):

  • Red Velvet debuted as a four-member group (Irene, Seulgi, Wendy & Joy) on August 1st, 2014
  • There single debut "Happiness" MV was on August 4th, 2014. It was replaced due to controversy. The music video gained 2 Million+ views in the first 24 hours. It became the 2nd most watched K-Pop MV in the month of August 2014.
  • Their second single "Be Natural" was released on October 13th, 2014 (RV's "Be Natural" is a remake of 90's K-Pop girl group S.E.S song.)
Ice Cream Cake Era (March 2015- August 2015):
  • On March 11th, 2015, Red Velvet added a new member to the group, Yeri
  • On March 14th, 2015, 1st lead single "Automatic" MV was released
  • On March 15th, 2015, 2nd lead single "Ice Cream Cake" MV & their first mini album "Ice Cream Cake" were released
  • On March 29th, 2015, Red Velvet's "Ice Cream Cake" won #1 on MUSIC BANK
  • The mini-album "Ice Cream Cake" became the #1 best selling girl group album in the first half of 2015
  • On August 2015, Red Velvet made their first USA performance on KCON
Dumb Dumb Era (September 2015- February 2016):
  • On September 9th, 2015, "Dumb Dumb" MV & their first full album "The Red" were released
  • The album debuted #1 on Billboard's World Albums Chart & on GAON Album Chart
  • "Dumb Dumb" peaked #3 on Billboard's World Singles Chart & became the best selling single in America that same week.
  • Recognitions: Billboard's "Top 10 K-Pop Albums of 2015", "Dumb Dumb" was one of the "Top 20 K-Pop Tracks of 2015" by Dazed, "Dumb Dumb" became the only non-English song to be on Rolling Stone's "10 Best Music Videos of 2015"
  • On December 18th, 2015, Red Velvet released their winter special single "Wish Tree"
The Velvet Era (March 2016- August 2016):
  • On March 17th, 2016, "One of These Nights" MV & their second mini album "The Velvet" were released
Russian Roulette Era (September 2016- January 2017):
  • On September 7th, 2016, "Russian Roulette" MV & their third mini album "Russian Roulette" were released
  • On September 18th, 2016, got #1 win for "Russian Roulette" on The Show
Rookie Era (February 2017- June 2017):
  • On February 1st, 2017, "Rookie" & their fourth mini album "Rookie" were released
  • "Rookie" won #1 on The Show, Show Champion, M Countdown, Music Bank & Inkigayo
  • "Rookie" earns Red Velvet their second #1 on Billboard's World Albums Chart
  • On March 31st, 2017, Red Velvet made their SM STATION debut with their single "Would U"
Red Flavor Era (July 2017- October 2017):
  • On July 9th, 2017, "Red Flavor" MV & their fifth mini album "The Red Summer" were released
  • "The Red Summer" was an instant commercial success
  • "The Red Summer" earns Red Velvet their third #1 on Billboard's World Albums Chart & it made Red Velvet the K-Pop girl group with most #1 albums
  • On August 18th, 2017, second SM STATION single "Rebirth" was released
  • From August 18th- 20th, 2017, Red Velvet held their first solo concert "Red Room"
Peek-A-Boo Era (November 2017- December 2017):
  • On November 17th, 2017, "Peek-A-Boo" MV & their second full album "Perfect Velvet" were released.
  • On November 28th, 2017, Album "The Perfect Velvet" reaches No.1 on BILLBOARD Wolrd Album Chart. This became Red Velvet's fourth BILLBOARD win, making them the first K-Pop Girl Group to ever accomplish 4 wins!
Bad Boy Era (January 2018- ? 2018):
  • On January 29th, 2018, "Bad Boy" MV & their repackaged second full album "The Perfect Red Velvet" were released.
